2. Hand washing

In an ever increasing health and safety conscious world, hand hygiene has become something that almost everyone of us takes part in, to some extent or another, and it is common sense to clean your hands before eating, after handling litter or using the bathroom. But those who are living with obsessive compulsive disorder can take hand hygiene to a whole new level. A fear of germs or catching disease from unclean surfaces/other people drives those with OCD to constantly wash their hands, sometimes doing so many times throughout the day, even when unnecessary. Another sign to watch out for is having strange or unusual hand washing routines, such as specific amounts of soap on the hand or washing the same part of the hand over and over again until they “feel clean”.
