In addition to their moves to cover their mouths, liars will often cover other areas of the body that are instinctively vulnerable. They sometimes make moves to cover areas of their head, their throat, abdomen, or chest. It may seem a bit odd, but these are the same areas that someone would want to cover before engaging in physical combat. It all goes back to the primitive instincts that we all have to protect ourselves when we feel that we are engaged in dangerous or risky behavior.
