Sometimes lying will prompt people to repeat certain things as if they are really trying to drive home a point. This is probably because they are attempting to convince themselves that what they are saying is true. It is a way they can validate their lies in their own mind. It’s also quite possible that repeating things over and over could be used as a delaying tactic which they hope will provide them with more time to organize their thoughts.
