As we already talked about, cats often use purring as a signal that they are either happy or in pain. While that’s pretty well understood, what’s not so clear is where the sound actually comes from. How cats actually produce that sound is still a mystery to us humans. Some experts believe the sound is somehow produced by the cardiovascular system, and not the throat as most people are likely to believe.
