Some dogs are downright enthusiastic about eating things like peaches and plums, and although eating them is not especially harmful to dogs, it’s the rather large pits that these fruits contain that present a very real danger for our canine companions. Dogs will often gulp food down without too much concern for what it is they are eating, and this makes it particularly likely that they will swallow the pits whole. This can result in dangerous intestinal blockages, as well as inflammation of the small intestine. In addition, both peach and plum pits contain cyanide, which presents a danger to both dogs and people.
