Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from the mid-1920’s until 1953 when he died in office. Although not quite as “accomplished” as Mao where murder was concerned, Stalin racked up a staggering 7 million human lives, some 5 million of those through starvation as a result of his brutal policies. Many more died in notorious Soviet gulags or were slaughtered because they were considered a threat to the regime.
