These are creatures you may have seen at the local aquarium or on a television nature program but definitely do not want to meet in its native habitat. Technically, they are not really eels and are actually a type of knifefish that are found in waters of the Amazon and Orinoco basins of South America. In addition to being scary-looking, these slithery critters are actually very dangerous due to their ability to produce an electric shock that can be as powerful as 500 volts, which is enough to kill an adult human being!
