Many people don’t seek help with their depression, and there are almost as many reasons for that as there are people who make excuses to avoid getting the help they need. Some people feel that getting help is a sign of weakness, in fact, 54 percent of people think that getting help is a sign of personal weakness. As many as 41 percent of women are too embarrassed to seek help for their depression, and an astounding 92 percent of African-American males do not seek treatment for their depression.
