Described as both a bascule and suspension bridge that spans the River Thames, Tower Bridge is another unmistakable London landmark that is often shown prominently in photographs of the city. Construction was started in 1886 and lasted for eight years. It’s proximity to the Tower of London is what gave the bridge its name.
