7. Anaconda

For people who have an aversion to snakes, the anaconda might represent their very worst nightmare. These slithery monsters live around the rivers and wetlands of South America and will often prey on fish, birds, reptiles, and small mammals. They will even take a large domestic animal once in a while. They do not normally target people, but it is certainly not out of the question. Death by anaconda is not a pleasant thought to entertain at all. Like boa constrictors, they will often coil up around their victim and squeeze the life out of it before swallowing it whole. Even their name is scary – the word, believed to have been taken from the Tamil language, is thought to mean “elephant killer.” Enough said.
