#8 Pressed wood products

Ever notice how that computer desk or card table you bought doesn’t seem to be made of real wood? Manufacturing processes that use saw dust or wood chips mixed with various glues and adhesives to create pressed wood products are much cheaper than using real wood, and unfortunately they are more dangerous as well. As you might suspect, it’s the glue used to manufacture this stuff that poses a problem. Some of these contain urea-formaldehyde, which can cause reactions in people such as burning eyes and throat, breathing problems, and even asthma attacks. There is also evidence that breathing in the gases from urea-formaldehyde could cause cancer.
