In one of the most spectacularly offensive ideas in the history of ideas, McDonald’s decided to promote the 2008 Beijing Olympics in by introducing this burger, containing pita bread, beef cheese, salad and “an exotic African sauce.” McDonald’s sort of forgot that Africa was in the grip of devastating famine and that it wasn’t a good idea to name a burger after a region where people were starving to death.
