This drink is known as a rectified spirit or neutral spirit. It contains a lot of Ethanol, and can only be purified by distilling it a number of times (rectification). Rectified spirits normally contain 95% alcohol by volume. Everclear is one of the most popular grain spirits, containing 95% alcohol by volume, and was once regarded as the strongest drink in the world. It is illegal to buy it in some countries.
