First of all, the penny is not heavy enough to perforate human skin. Nor is it being thrown with excessive force to cause that kind of damage. Furthermore, when something is thrown from such a high distance, wind resistance alone will slow the object down, thereby taking away the majority of its force. Well, there you go, another popular yet stupid theory proven wrong.
